Your Broken Heart by Janelle Gregory

by Aaron Esparza

I am the wife who walked away,
I am the son who refused to stay,
I am a wandering soul

I was blind before I could see,
I am the thief hanging on that tree,
Calling out with a mocking voice

Why don’t I love like I should?
Why do I run away from you?

Everything I’ve done on my own
Has fallen apart
Still You call me to Yourself and say,
“I want you and your broken heart.”

I am the stubborn man that cried,
“Oh Lord, I‘d rather die,
than see Your saving grace.”

I am the man torn by sin,
Haunted by my ghosts within
Crying out, “Set me free.”

Oh Lord, it’s every day that I have to choose to say, “Bind my heart to Yours.”
Oh Lord, it’s every day that I have to choose to say, “Bind my heart to Yours.”

Everything I’ve done on my own
Has fallen apart
Still You call me to Yourself and say,
“I want you and your broken heart.
Dear child, I’ll love you no matter who you are.”
